The CobiT approach to maturity modelling for IT processes is based on a method derived from the maturity model that the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Although concepts of the SEI approach were followed, the COBIT implementation differs and there is no intention to measure precisely. The result is that it is highly probable that no two CobiT assessments are performed in exactly the same way. There are instances were the CobiT maturity model doesn't lend itself to simple Yes/No answers. Consequently we have developed this tool to assist enterprises perform CobiT assessments in a consistent and reliable manner. To get started, sign-in as a registered user, download the tool, open Excel and load the spreadsheet (after first unzipping the file). Progress through the questions for each maturity level and once complete, review the results on the two graphs. Note that only maturity levels 0 to 3 are included in this tool as in most organisations levels 4 and 5 are likely to be long off, if ever applicable. The questions are based on the CobiT Maturity Model but adjusted to maintain consistency with the CMMI maturity modle principles.
